Josh Doe - Apprentice
Hi I'm Josh, I'm 22 and have been the 'floor whore' at The Tattoo Gallery for just over a year. My day is anything but boring and is concerned with booking jobs, drawing, cleaning and making sure my boss has what he needs to make his day run smooth.
Since the beginning of 08, Mike offered me an apprenticeship and I didn't need time to think about it - YES sprang to mind and I've never looked back. I've wanted to tattoo since the age of 7, when I realised I wanted to 'draw' on people and it would never wash off... lol
As an apprentice, I am learning to not only tattoo and all the aspects surrounding that craft, but also to make my own needle groupings and run/maintain my own tattoo machines.
Being Mike's apprentice gives me detailed opportunities to learn and understand different styles of tribal and I have to say that the Maori Kiri Tuhi from New Zealand is currently my favourite. I also like the traditional American imagery with new skool twists and the Western take on traditional Japanese art. As far as big international names in the tattoo world, I appreciate Bugs, Shige and Robert Hernandez and in the world of canvas art, Salvadore Dali is an artist I trully admire.
I am a self-confessed comic book geek, dig film, Tool, Rage Against The Machine, Redheads and wearing my pants so my boxers hang out the top...............
