Heaven 'n' Hell Tour - Adelaide, August 5 2007
Well, when the tickets to Heaven and Hell went on sale and sold out the same goddamn morning, we thought we were royally fuckt! Our chance to see Dio/Iommi/Butler work their musical magic was but a mere pathetic dream. No way was I paying some capitalist scalper pig $300 + for a ticket!
Anyway, Friday night rocks around [2 nights before the show] and Ty of local Adelaide band 1313 [myspace.com/1313] drags his depressed ass down to the Hilton. Baby Dave one of our tattooers [and vocals for 1313] goes down for a bevvy after work and hey - who the fuck is there but the dudes from "DOWN"!!! TY and Dave contacted me and Tribal Mike and we organised for the Band to visit The Tattoo Gallery the following night for some righteous ink.
Shit Hot! We didn't even now who the hell was supporting Dio so when it turned out to be Phil Anselmo's "Down", we were stoked. Ty and Dave had met Phil several times when he toured with Pantera so it was an honour when Phil, Kurt, Jimmy, Pepper, Andre, Chad, Scott and Katie all rocked up Saturday evening around 7pm and Dave and Andy tattooed some rad ink into their Southern Skins!!
Needless to say, YOU ROCK DUDES!! We all got 'comped' to the show Sunday night and fuck what a show it was...DOWN were LOUD, HARD and THUMPIN' Phils vocals were pure! It was a pleasure to meet them all [and you miss Michigan Katie] and ink them up for LIFE!!. Thanks for the SHOUTOUT Phil - fuckin respect!
As far as comments for the DIO/SABBATH show goes..... how does.fucking awesome, rad and surreal grab ya! It was like jumpin' a Tardis back to the 80's. A timewarp dream. Dio's vocals were so young, like no time had passed and the guitar science of Iommi - his riffs were totally effortless. Man, not one bead of sweat on his brow! His signature gold cross flashing under the stage lights! I grabbed Tony's signature later after the gig, his shy Birmingham accent politely telling me that the ink would wash off! It was my hand or nothing as he and Geezer slipped into the lift.
